I'd love to cut out the "software engineer" part, but you're right. "Hermit" isn't high on the salary chart.

I don't have to be a stick-in-the-mud father yet, my son is only 10 months old.

I've also been planning this for quite some time -- maybe not ten years, but pretty close. I'm hoping that maintaining a blog about it will keep me motivated to follow through. I don't want all the people I don't know who are reading my blog to think I have no follow-through.

I'm attempting this journey now. So far, I am an approachable husband, a stick-in-the-mud father, efficient software engineer, and a paranoid computer game player (when you have time for 80 hour work weeks, you better be looking over your shoulder when you decide to indulge in a one hour video game playing foray even while the wife is whining that she never sees you).

I should add that I have been in the planning phase of my computer game project for about ten years now, and I have no formal documentation to show for it.

I am in the process of re-examining my priorities. I am considering cutting out the "software engineer" part and inserting something a little more carefree like, say, "hermit". If only hermiting paid the bills...
